Birdscapes: A Pop-Up Celebration of Bird Songs in Stereo Sound - Miyoko Chu

Birdscapes (Chronicle, $60) is for the whole family—well, maybe not for those tiniest members who can’t resist tearing into pop-up pages.  Roger Tory Peterson meets Where’s Waldo in this book of complex, multilevel vistas of seven bird habitats, enhanced by a CD of songs and calls, and texts illustrating the different ecosystems.  The project is the work of Miyoko Chu and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and an imaginative way of explaining to the children and grandchildren—in front of a warm fire—why you love going out birding on a miserable cold, wet day.
