In "The Silence of the Lambs", Harris introduces us to Clarice Starling, a promising FBI cadet with a keen eye for detail that leads her to join the hunt for Buffalo Bill, a serial killer targeting women across the country. Without any leads, the FBI turn to a jailed serial killer, the brilliant and manipulative Hannibal Lector, to help solve the crime. Starling must balance and analyze the personalities of two psychopaths in order to catch the killer before he strikes again. Although many have seen the film, the language is fantastic and the characters are even brighter on the page. And of course who can forget the inimitable Hannibal Lector? Psychiatrist, genius, cannibal and madman, one of pop culture’s best monsters, and the reason that Anthony Hopkins's face sends a cold chill down my spine.
