Bringing Columbia Home: The Untold Story of a Lost Space Shuttle and Her Crew - Michael Leinbach

Staff Pick

On February 1st, 2003 the crew of the space shuttle Columbia was lost when it broke up during reentry in the skies over Texas. This is the moving account of the search and recovery operations --the largest search in U.S. history-- launched to find the crewmembers and their ship. The goal was to ensure the astronauts were respectfully laid to rest and determine the cause of the accident. I am still in awe of the magnitude of dedication shown by people from across the country who found common cause in honoring these heroes. This is a story I will always carry with me.
