Join us for a journey into Palestinian society via another beautifully written novel by Isabella Hammad. This time we are using theater and Hamlet – one of Shakespeare’s powerful plays to better understand the turmoil in Palestine. According to the book review in the NYT: “In “Enter Ghost,” concealment and subterfuge end poorly, as the title — and “Hamlet” — would suggest. Indeed, the novel seems to argue, real growth and connection, both political and personal, cannot begin until everyone’s ghosts have emerged from hiding. Art is, if nothing else, a powerful tool for coaxing them out.” The author intertwines both personal and historical ghosts into this novel for us to better understand the angst and turmoil in Palestine and the Middle East today.
