What is a memior? "memoir, history or record composed from personal observation and experience" (Britannica)

This is a workshop for people at any stage of their memoir writing. You might be writing about yourself or someone else, or your cat, or recorded conversations with a veteran of WWII, of an episode of near fatal unrequited love, of childhood or old-age ---anything, really. Each meeting you will be responsible for having read 8-10 pages of your colleague's work-in-progress. A generous and lively combination of  inquiry, opinion and empathy is critical!  I will be giving your pages a very close reading, and will respond individually by email about elements of craft, such as narrative strategy, tone, subject matter.  And of course all of this stuff will be woven into our open discussions. Before the workshop begins,  each of you will share a one-page summary of what your memoir is about,  your ambitions and goals for the memoir, and what particular challenges you have faced so far.

Four Mondays: November 21, 28, and December 5, 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET Online
