At times like this they look up to psychologists for guidance and it becomes the responsibility of the psychologists to intervene to study problems of concern to society in a systematic manner and offer appropriate guidance. 1.2 Parenting Parenting is the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood, and it refers to the aspects of raising a child aside from the biological relationship. Furthermore, it's a kind of rearing that teaches them to be a self-reliant individual to lead an independent life. Unfortunately the "biological relationship" makes many parents possessive, and moulds their offspring to a clone of their alike or a version of their dream or aspirations. This irony in parental care forces one to explore what are the perceptional differences in parenting, and finally understanding what is effective parenting. Parenting may be defined as purposive activities aimed at ensuring the survival and development of children. It derives from the Latin verb "par ere"-To bring forth, develop, or educate.
